Het wintersportgebied Kartalkaya is met zijn 2.400 m hoge top het hoogste punt van het Yedi Göller (het zeven meren) Nationaal Park.

 In dit gebied liggen zeven schilderachtige meertjes, in de zomer zijn dit er 4, die allen te bereiken zijn over enkele prachtige wandelroutes.

 

Kartalkaya ligt op 54 km van Bolu, dat op 260 km van Istanbul ligt en op 190 km van Ankara. In het skigebied kan worden overnacht in één van de twee aanwezige hotels. Het seizoen loopt van 1 december tot 1 mei; de beste maand is maart.

In dit gebied ligt de langste skipiste van Turkije, 8 km. Het skicentrum bestaat in totaal uit 12 skiliften en 7 stoeltjesliften. Bovendien liggen er 28 pistes. Het skicentrum is zeer geliefd bij professionele sporters.

KARTALKAYA SKI CENTER BOLU

Located in the Western Black Sea Region., southeast of pine forests the town Bolu in the picturesque pine forests of the Koroglu Mountains.

The Ankara Highway is a 45 minute drive from this center which is about 220 km from the airport in Ankara, and about 275 km from the airport in Istanbul.

The duration of the skiing season is 120 days a year. The skiing area of Kartalkaya is 1800-2221 m high and the most suitable skiing conditions are between 20 December and 20 March. The average snow fall is 3 m in normal winter conditions. At the beginning of the season the type of snow is "powdery-snow" and at the end of the season the snow characteristic is slightly "slushy snow."

 KARTALKAYA , BOLU

This center has suitable conditions for Alpine skiing, ski touring, and cross country skiing and it is equipped with 3 chairlifts and 7 town bars. Qualified skiing instructors and equipment for hire are available. The sloples and mechanical equipment are under surveillance of experts. All hotels have first aid facilities and medically trained personnel. Accomodations can be booked directly.

Note: In foggy conditions it is essential not to wander outside the marked slopes.
